Don't Feed the Slugs!
This illustration was my response to a brief called "Future-Proof", in which I had to choose a social phenomenon and imagine a future for it. After several experiments with different ideas, including futuristic board games such as “Coronopoly”, a COVID-19 themed monopoly game and a modern take on Mahjong tiles which became too fraught with potential to offend Chinese culture, I settled on political campaign posters, because I saw it as an opportunity to express my rage at the UK government.
My approach to this was to digitise my drawings, because this seemed most appropriate to the nature of the brief and our ever digitally evolving world. I imagined this final illustration electronically advertised on buildings and skyscrapers all over cities. Almost like an alternate version of George Orwell's 1984, where people are fighting back for their right to freedom and democracy.
